AFL Picks: Collingwood v. Port Adelaide

afl picks

Two teams in stellar form meet under the Friday night lights as the footy weekend returns to a normal schedule after six weeks of mayhem.

Collingwood has won three straight, and has had a big break after the ANZAC Day grudge match eight days ago. They are perched nicely in 3rd place on the ladder with a 4-2 record but this is a danger game against another finals contender.

The Power defeated the reigning premiers West Coast and followed that up a convincing win over North Melbourne last Friday.  An injection of youth has helped Port Adelaide revitalise itself this season and the team from Alberton will be entering this match fully expecting to cause a big upset. They also have a 4-2 record so far in 2019, so a victory here will set them up for September action, while a loss slips them back into the pack.

Both teams have plenty of ball magnets and high scoring fantasy players which could make team selection a little tricky. You just can’t fit everyone into that salary budget!

PlayON are hosting some excellent fantasy AFL contests for this match including cash guarantees and head-to-head contests.

Gun for hire – Adam Treloar $15.7m

There’s not much in price separating the top midfielders in this contest but in my view it’s hard to go past Adam Treloar. Scores of 120 and 105 in recent weeks shows he’s in pretty good touch, and we know he has the ability to go really big (see 152 in round two).

Dud to avoid – Connor Rozee $10.3m

Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love watching Connor Rozee play. He’s done everything and more you could expect from a first-year player, including kicking some spectacular goals. But given his match-winning ability, there’s no way Collingwood will let him do his own thing. Tread with caution this weekend.

Point of difference – Sam Gray $8.8m

Port’s other Gray, Sam, has forced his way into the Power midfield and had a real impact. Scores of 116 against West Coast and 122 against North Melbourne is incredible form, and at a price of just $8.8m he’s almost a no-brainer. Maybe he won’t be a POD for long.

Good luck!
