The team from Daily Fantasy Rankings are back to give you a helping hand with your ANZAC Day AFL lineups as they preview each position and find some value for your fantasy teams.

The cream of the crop for defenders is Essendon’s Michael Hurley. The key defender was back to his best last week against Port Adelaide with 29 disposals and 15 marks for 131 fantasy points. The Pies don’t exactly have the strongest forward line so Hurley might be able to run rampant once again and rack up another big score, but you’ll have to pay for it at a salary of $14.5m.

If you’re looking for something cheaper then you can’t look past rookie Sam Murray who has shown so much ability and dash with his run from half-back this season. He has scored 90 and 85 fantasy points in his last two weeks and with a price of just $7.5m, you can’t really go wrong.

This is a game with a lot of highly-priced, but highly-talented midfielders, so your selections here will be make or break. Essendon’s Zach Merrett is worth considering as a point of difference. In previous seasons, Merrett has been a fantasy jet, but this year his form has suffered after a concussion early in the season. However last week Merrett showed signs of being back with 29 disposals and 121 fantasy points.

Rookie Jaidyn Stephenson is a great choice for a cheap midfield option. This guy is a star of the future and last week showed what he’s capable of with five goals in an impressive performance. At a price of $8.1m he’s a great value pick.

Three to choose from in the ruck division and two of them aren’t much good. That leaves us with Brodie Grundy. He’s been in excellent form with three huge scores over the past few weeks for a season average of 119 fantasy points. The only problem is that he comes with a hefty price tag of $16.0m, but it’s probably worth trying to squeeze into your team.

Devon Smith is the most expensive forward at $13.2m and he’s been pretty good this season since coming across to the Bombers. Most importantly, he’s been able to apply pressure in the forward line with 11 tackles last week, and 13 tackles two weeks ago – that’s gold for your fantasy teams. If he can kick multiple goals, then you are looking at a potential massive score.

For a cheap option, you might want to run with Matt Guelfi. We don’t know a lot about him yet but his debut last week was promising and he picked up 17 disposals for 64 fantasy points. That’s a great return on a $5.4m investment, we’re just not sure if he will be able to deliver that every week.
