Round 11 of the 2019 AFL season gets underway with a massive clash between the Sydney Swans and the Collingwood Magpies from the SCG on Friday night!
The Swans have won their last two games in a row and will be looking to cause an upset at home over the Magpies. After being struck with injuries, the Swans have been forced to blood their kids, and they are starting to stand up. If they can regain some experience with the likes of Lance Franklin and Josh Kennedy to come back in the mix, then they will start to look a more dangerous opposition.
The Pies are sitting pretty in second spot on the ladder after a comfortable win against the Saints last week. They’ve also had a few injury concerns with their backline stretched following the late withdrawal of Darcy Moore last week. Jordan De Goey might also be a chance to come back into the lineup, while Taylor Adams struggled at training and will miss once again. The Pies have so much depth in the centre of the ground that they can still field one of the best midfields in the competition, despite their absence.
PlayON have some great tournaments on offer for the Friday night game including a $500 Guaranteed tournament which can be entered for just $10!
We are back with another round of AFL Daily Fantasy tips for the Friday night clash, with our daily fantasy picks below:
Gun for hire – Brodie Grundy ($17.4m)
You might be paying out of the nose for Grundy on Friday night, but as the No.1 rated fantasy player in the league, Grundy is as close to a sure thing as you can get. The ruckman averages a monster 119.1 points per game this season and 133.3 points over the last three rounds alone. Has scored 141 and 144 points in his last two games and has a dominant record against the Swans. The ruckman scored 150 including 24 disposals and 57 hitouts when the two sides met in Round 20 last season and had 133 points against Sydney in 2017.
Dud to avoid – Steele Sidebottom ($15m)
Steele Sidebottom averages 27 disposals per game in 2019 and exactly 100 fantasy points. However, the star midfielder has had some trouble against the Swans in recent years. Sidebottom had just 18 disposals and 70 fantasy points when the two sides last met in Round 20 last season and averages just 22.3 disposals in his last three games against Sydney. Commands a high price after his last three outings have netted 128, 112 and 117 points, but we don’t think he’s worth the price tag this week.
Point of difference – Dane Rampe ($9.9m)
Rampe is yet to score over 100 points in a game this season resulting in a fairly significant price slide. He was one of the best on ground when these two sides met in Round 20 last season, racking up 28 touches, 11 marks and a season high 117 fantasy points. With Jarrad McVeigh still on the sidelines, Rampe should continue to receive a lot of that run and carry off half back for the Swans and also takes a lot of their kick ins. Could be a valuable point of difference this Friday night.
That’s all for Friday’s preview. Check back soon for picks for the rest of the weekend’s action, but first head to the Lobby and lock in your lineup.
