AFL Round 4: Collingwood v. Western Bulldogs Preview

afl picks round 4

Our Friday night AFL clash will see Collingwood attempt to get their season back on track against the spirited Western Bulldogs. The Dogs enter this contest higher on the ladder than the Pies, and could easily be undefeated, after winning their opening two games before a disappointing narrow loss to Gold Coast last weekend.

The Pies however are still recovering from the Grand Final loss it seems, sitting in 11th on the ladder with just the one win. That said, the Maggies’ midfield gets stronger by the week, with the list of good fantasy options seemingly endless.

If you can find room for a couple of Bulldogs though, you might be rewarded, as they have been fantasy scoring machines in recent weeks.

PlayON are hosting some excellent fantasy AFL contests for this match including cash guarantees, head-to-head contests, as well as qualifiers to the big $10,000 AFL Super Game on ANZAC Day.

Gun for hire – Marcus Bontempelli $15.3m

It’s easy to look at the expensive options for this match, like Jack Macrae, Lachie Hunter, Adam Treloar and Dayne Beams, but let’s not forget about the Bont, who finally looks ready to become a superstar midfielder. His scores this season read 128, 111 and 129 and his value is only going up from here.

Dud to avoid – Sam Murray $10.4m

Still serving his ban from ASADA for violating the prohibited substances code – so don’t pick him! We saw a few teams make that mistake last week! Instead, the Pies offer a number of valuable Defenders to choose from. Jack Crips, Jeremy Howe and Tom Langdon are capable of big scores with their intercept marking power, while Brayden Maynard topped a ton in a losing effort last week and often is responsible for the kick-ins for those extra fantasy points!

Point of difference – Tom Liberatore $12.3m

So while Collingwood genuinely has seven really good midfield options, don’t immediately discount all the Dogs. If you followed Libba last week, you were rewarded with a score of 119 which was a tremendous return for his price. Libba has come back into the midfield and is flourishing doing what he does best – the grunt work. Lots of tackles (nine last week!) and lots of possessions, it looks like Libba will easily average 100 this season so he’s still great value.

That’s all for our Friday night fantasy preview – jump into the PlayON Lobby now to pick your team!
