AFL Round 4 kicks off this Thursday night with Sydney hosting Melbourne at the SCG. It wouldn’t have been unreasonable to expect six wins between these two sides leading into this match. But just one combined win through three rounds between Sydney and Melbourne highlights just how out of touch both outfits have been.
The Swans finally broke the duck last weekend, albeit against Carlton, with some 120+ scores from Josh Kennedy, Jake Lloyd, Callum Sinclair and Isaac Heeney. They are big numbers, although a little flattering given the quality of the opposition.
The Demons are still searching for their first win after going down to Essendon on Friday night. Angus Brayshaw (129) still scored well despite the loss but he’s just not getting a lot of support at the moment. Another loss here and it’s nearly curtains on 2019 for the Dees.
Which of these teams will get the chocolates on Thursday in Sydney?
PlayON are hosting some excellent fantasy AFL contests for this match including cash guarantees, head-to-head contests, as well as qualifiers to the big $10,000 AFL Super Game on ANZAC Day.
Gun for hire – Angus Brayshaw $16.0m
As mentioned above, despite his side’s meek start to the season, Brayshaw has carried on where he left off in 2018. In Melbourne’s three losses, he’s averaged 116.7 and is yet to drop under 100. They’re exactly the sort of numbers you want if you’re forking out $16m. Brayshaw also fills a Defender slot in your PlayON lineups which frees up more options through the Midfield for your team.
Dud to avoid – Christian Petracca $10.9m
He’s far from a dud, but Trac just isn’t giving us enough at the moment, considering he’ll cost you nearly $11m and a Midfield spot. He’s scored 54, 69 and 73 in the three weeks and will likely have to play forward again this week, because of the doubt surrounding Tom McDonald and injuries to Mitch Hannan and Aaron vandenBerg.
Point of difference – Tom Papley $10.1m
You may have seen Papley go for a piggyback ride on Patty Cripps on the weekend and you may have also seen in him Sydney’s midfield. He’s been spending plenty of time in the guts for the Swans and has scored two 90+ scores this season. He’s also capable of hitting the scoreboard, so he offers decent value as a point of difference pick.
