Every week at PlayON we take a look at three heroes and three zeros from the previous Premier League Gameweek. Here we separate the fantasy football studs from the duds.
David De Gea

A choice that was both easy and obvious. De Gea has been rightly lauded in the media for a sensational performance against Liverpool. The Spanish keeper kept his fifth clean sheet of the season, producing a total of eight saves in the process. The performance was described by former United stalwart, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, as the best he had seen at Old Trafford. High praise when one considers the calibre of goalkeeper that has preceded him. De Gea has now kept three clean sheets in his last six games, while making 24 saves in that time (2nd most in the league). This is a player at the very top of his game.

Our second champ is another Spaniard and another easy choice. Cazorla celebrated his 30th birthday with two goals for the Gunners as they ran riot over Newcastle. By doing so, he earned himself the position of PlayON’s top points scorer for Gameweek 16, something that will doubtless mean more to him than anything else. After a poor run of form, Cazorla has now scored over 1,000 points in 3 of his last four games. He’ll look to continue that trend against a Liverpool defence that has made more errors than any other this season. The time to get him in your fantasy football line up is now.

With a PlayON price of just £7.5 million James McArthur was this weekend’s Mr.Value. In addition to scoring his sides only goal the midfielder had three shots on target, two tackles, three clearances and an interception in a solid all around display. The goals are likely to be a rarity, but his combination of price and defensive efforts make him a reasonable addition to your PlayON fantasy football line up. However, team-mate Mile Jedinak remains the man to have.

The entire Newcastle back five could have featured on this list, but as the most expensive it is Janmaat who gets the nod. The Dutch defender had eclipsed the 1,000 point mark in three of his previous five games, but produced less than zero after his side shipped four goals away to Arsenal. One would expect it is just a blip for both Janmaat and Newcastle. Both have been in good form in recent weeks and the defender is worth persevering with against all but the biggest sides. This week, he faces a much kinder match up against Sunderland’s toothless attack.

A 22nd minute red card against West Brom cost his side and it also lands him on our chumps list for Gameweek 16. It was a reckless moment from a player of his experience, and one that will have left Paul Lambert and fantasy football owners equally perturbed. The red card means he misses the visit of his former club, Man Utd, to Villa Park. Not a good effort from Richardson this week.

Many harboured hopes that a goal against Man Utd would reignite Pelle’s stuttering season. Against Burnley, however, the Italian striker failed to register a single shot on target as his side dropped yet more points. He also received a booking for his troubles. Pelle has scored just once in his last eight outings, and his early form is but a distant memory. He does have a good match up this weekend, against an Everton side who have struggled to stop opponents from scoring all season.
