We analyse the very best and worst of the Premier League’s fantasy performers for Gameweek 24.
Romelu Lukaku (Everton)
PlayON Price: £12.9m
PlayON Points: 5,500
Although he is very much a burst or purple patch player, when Romelu Lukaku is in form he is perhaps more devastating than any other player in England. He proved once again his talent as one of the finest finishers in the domestic league with a four goal tally and a critical hand in Everton’s 6-3 mauling of Bournemouth. The Belgian shot himself to the top of the league scoring charts as result and looks set to continue that pride of place as the Toffees prepare to face favourable opponents in Middlesbrough and Sunderland over the coming two weeks.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan (Manchester United)
PlayON Price: £11.6m
PlayON Points: 2,775
Since establishing himself in the Manchester United side, the Armenian international has gone from strength to strength. In Gameweek 24 after switching from the wing to a number ten position, he looked even more comfortable. The ex-Dortmund man scored a sublime opener and teed up Juan Mata to round out a 3-0 drubbing of Leicester City and looks to have nailed on a starting berth in Jose Mourinho’s plans. The highest scoring midfielder in PlayON fantasy football in Gameweek 24.
Lamine Kone (Sunderland)
PlayON Price: £6.6m
PlayON Points: 2,495
The highest scoring defender in Gameweek 24, Lamine Kone actually showed flashes of the player that made him such a prospect towards the end of last season. Claiming a superb goal and key in the maintenance of a clean sheet in the Black Cats 4-0 win over Crystal Palace, Kone along with the indomitable Jermain Defoe show why Sunderland have every chance of staying up this season. Coming up against a weakened Southampton side in Gameweek 25, Kone and Sunderland have potential to extend this run of form.
Tyrone Mings (Bournemouth)
PlayON Price: £7.8m
PlayON Points: -600
Bournemouth are in the midst of a six game win-less streak in all competitions and their defence is looking increasingly unequipped to handle opposition attacks in the Premier League. Having conceded an uninspiring 13 goals in their previous five games, the Cherries reached their lowest ebb of the season so far – getting trounced, 6-3 away to Everton. In a ridiculous match full of many culpable players, no player looked more at sea than Tyrone Mings, a player who also suffered the ignominy of clocking the worst score in PlayON fantasy football in Gameweek 24; -600 points.
Jeff Hendrick (Burnley)
PlayON Price: £6.8m
PlayON Points: -470
The Clarets’ one time record signing has provided them with memorable and match-winning moments this season, but this was his most disappointing showing to date. The Ireland international was on the field all of six minutes before an over the top lunge saw him on his way to an early shower. Now suspended for Burnley’s home fixture with Chelsea in Gameweek 25, Hendrick will stand as a major loss for Sean Dyche’s side.
Christian Benteke (Crystal Palace)
PlayON Price: £10.5m
PlayON Points: 975
He may not be the only Palace player guilty of sub-par and listless performances of late, but Christian Benteke’s inability to hit the goal with any real consistency – just one goal in his past nine league games – is one of the primary reasons for their current Premier League standing. Following a crippling 4-0 defeat to Sunderland in Gameweek 24, the Eagles sit in 19th place and the Belgian’s profligacy in front of goal contributed to that. In Gameweek 24, Benteke put together eight attempts on goal – all eight of them flew into the waiting arms of Vito Mannone.
