Every week we compare a player from each position to help you choose your fantasy football line ups.
Krul v Guzan
Two of the more underrated goalkeepers in the Premier League. Krul has been on top form of late, with three clean sheets in the last four gameweeks. Guzan is right up at the top of the league in terms of shots saved with 38.
Fantasy football managers suffered a cruel blow with Krul suffering an injury in training, however Guzan might be a reasonably priced replacement. Villa are not as porous at the back as they are impotent going forward, evidenced by four clean sheets already this term.
Janmaat v Azpilicueta
Janmaat has proved an excellent addition to Alan Pardew’s squad and a key figure in their revival. He has twice been named man of the match in recent weeks and leads the league in interceptions over the last four Gameweeks with 13.
Azpilicueta has been solid as usual and in a formidable Chelsea defence has been one of Mourinho’s most trusted lieutenants. He averages a clearances every 20 minutes.
Downing v Sigurdsson
Both men have been rejuvinated in this year’s campaign, Downing in a new more central role and Sigurdsson, at home after a return to the comfortable surroundings of Wales.
Downing holds the advantage in terms of key passes but the clinical finishing of Wilfried Bony means Sigurdsson is more likely to deliver an assist. Downing is also troubled by injury at present making him a less attractive option in the short term.
Perez v Ings
Sergio Aguero aside few have been attempting more strikes than Danny Ings in recent weeks (15 attempts last four games). He hasn’t always had his radar on but his persistence paid off last week with two goals.
Perez has a more accurate shot and tests the keeper more regularly. He has also been far more clinical with his three goals coming from just six attempts. Two vastly different styles but both have been effective recently.
