Pundit’s Picks: Gameweek 27

ben foster

The PlayON Pundit picks his fantasy football line up for the coming Gameweek. He’s less about the stats, more about going with your instincts. How many of his picks feature in your line up?

Goalkeeper

Ben Foster (West Brom)

Foster has been the biggest beneficiary since Tony Pulis took over at the Hawthorns. The goalkeeper has kept four clean sheets in the seven Premier League games since January 1st, second behind only Fraser Foster in that time.

This weekend’s opponents, Southampton, may be fighting for a Champions League spot, but their goal scoring touch has deserted them in recent weeks. The Saints have scored just once in their last four Premier League games, meaning Foster could continue his good run of form.

Defenders

Nathaniel Clyne (Southampton), Kieran Trippier (Burnley), Jose Fonte (Southampton), Joleon Lescott (West Brom)

As the two ever presents in the Premier League’s best defence, Clyne and Fonte pick themselves. Lescott has been the rock for Tony Pulis’ revived West Brom back four, while Trippier’s crossing ability offers a threat going forward.

Midfielders

Santi Cazorla (Arsenal), Stephen Ireland (Stoke City), Daley Blind ( Man Utd), Angel Di Maria (Man Utd)

Cazorla has been almost undroppable for the last couple of months, and his tendency to score from the penalty spot makes him appealing against an error prone Everton defence. Ireland has stepped up his game in the absence of Bojan and comes cheaply priced. Blind’s defensive work offers an almost guaranteed 1,000 point haul.

The wild card is Di Maria. He looks horribly out of form, as evidenced by the fact that he was hauled off against Swansea with United desperately searching for an equaliser, but perversely he remains their most dangerous attacking option and has provided assists in their last two games.

Forwards

Sergio Aguero (Man City), Danny Ings (Burnley)

Aguero’s Champions league goal against Barcelona was proof of the sheer class of the man and reminded us who is really the Premier League’s best striker. With the likes of Kane and Costa unavailable this week, Ings is the right combination of form and price to fit in my line up.
