The Hitlist: Gameweek 14 Premier League Injuries and Suspensions

The weekly roundup of the injured, sick and suspended. Going into a tough midweek round of fixtures, here’s reminder of who’s ruled in and out of the action. 

Arsenal

Next Up: Southampton (H)

It may seem repetitive, but Arsene Wenger faces yet another round of defensive quandaries. As
Laurent Koscielny returned to the fray, both Monreal and Gibbs bowed out of action. The Gunners will hope for their swift return along with Szczesny as they host Southampton in Gameweek 14.

Aston Villa

Next Up: Crystal Palace (A)
Benteke finally returns from suspension ahead of a trip to Crystal Palace, and the Villains pray the goals arrive with him. At other end, with Ciaran Clark joining the casualty list, Villa now face a serious defensive crisis.

Burnley

Next Up: Newcastle (H)
Michael Duff was out of action at the weekend and will remain so as Burnley host Newcastle.

Chelsea

Next Up: Tottenham (H)
Diego Costa may have deserved a heftier punishment following his questionable behaviour away to Sunderland- for the moment however, the Spain international misses the home clash with Spurs.

Crystal Palace

Next Up: Aston Villa (H)
Dwight Gayle bowed out of Saturday’s draw with Swansea and it looks as if he’ll remain sidelined for the GW14 clash with Villa.

Everton

Next Up: Hull (H)

Roberto Martinez will be sweating on the fitness of sorely missed McCarthy and Naismith as
Everton host a downbeat Hull on Wednesday night.

Hull

Next Up: Everton (A)

A tough run of games has become tougher still in the absence of Uruguayan duo Hernandez
and Ramirez. Robbie Brady too is unlikely to feature at Everton.

Leicester

Next Up: Liverpool (H)

The fact that Leicester have been probably the most injury free team in the league hasn’t
helped matters on field. No new injury concerns for the moment.

Next Up: Leicester (A)

Rickie Lambert is doing his damnedest in the absence of heavy hitters Balotelli and Sturridge.
With no return yet in sight, he may have to power on solo for some time.

Manchester City

Next Up: Sunderland (A)

With Mangala suspended and Kompany doubtful, City will have likely have to field a makeshift centre
back to pair up with Demichelis at the Stadium of Light on Wednesday night.

Manchester United

Next Up: Stoke (H)

Van Gaal will almost certainly be without the services of Angel Di Maria- with the record signing departing the action after just 13 minutes on Saturday. Wayne Rooney- despite concerns- is expected to feature at home to Stoke.

Newcastle United

Next Up: Burnley (A)

Newcastle will be hoping to set things straight following a form breaking defeat to West Ham. This will be all the more difficult without key midfield men Sissoko and Colback, both suspended. Janmaat and Coloccini, meanwhile, are further doubts in defence.

QPR

Next Up: Swansea (H)
Bobby Zamora was ruled out of affairs prior to kick off in the GW13 victory over Leicester City. He, along with Ferdinand and Yun are unlikely to feature as QPR host Swansea.

Southampton

Next Up: Arsenal (A)

If facing the league champions on Sunday didn’t take its toll on morale, the loss of
Cork and then Schneiderlin will almost certainly be a dash to chances at the Emirates.

Stoke

Next Up: Manchester United (A)

Steve Sidwell was subbed with a knee complaint at Anfield whilst Glenn Whelan- his
replacement- sustained a calf injury and departed at half time. Both are unlikely to feature in
another tough ask at Old Trafford.

Sunderland

Next Up: Manchester Ciy (H)

Sunderland weathered the Chelsea storm to great effect in Gameweek 13 and will look to a
likely similar encounter with City with no squad dropouts.

Swansea

Next Up: QPR (H)

No further injuries for the Swans, the return of Federico Fernandez, however- due back in the
coming two weeks- will be a welcome one.

Tottenham Hotspur

Next Up: Chelsea (A)

Spirits are high in North London going into a London derby with Chelsea. A few niggling
knocks and scrapes render the likes of Rose, Adebayor and Chiriches firmly in the maybe
camp however.

West Brom

Next Up: West Ham (H)

Full back Pocognoli left the field of play with a dead leg on Saturday and is now a doubt for
the West Ham game.

West Ham

Next Up: West Brom (H)

West Ham are sweating on the fitness of star men Sakho, Song and Noble ahead of the visit
of namesakes, West Brom.
